The Northwest Kansas Special Olympics Association held its 11th Annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy Fundraiser on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
This year’s 38 trucks and 36 motorcycles met at Oakley and Goodland, Kansas to begin the convoy. At each location, Special Olympians got to drive in the trucks to the central meeting location in Colby.
As a sponsor, 24/7 Travel Store hosted the starting point of the Goodland Convoy before they hit the road to Colby. Chester, the mascot of Chester’s Chicken (which is served at the Goodland location) rode along to Colby too! Lots of pictures were taken and he even got a few hugs.
At the Colby location, the Special Olympians, drivers and participants were treated to entertainment, a meal and an auction to collect donations for the Special Olympics of Kansas, while simultaneously bringing awareness to the cause.
As it got dark, the Truck Convoy held a parade in Colby with the Special Olympians riding in the big rigs. And the evening concluded with a great firework display!
